Why christ had to die

I love the logic of this verse. Not because I love logic, but because I love having my real needs met. The two halves of Romans have a stupendously important logical connection. The connection between the two halves is meant to make the second half absolutely certain. If God did the hardest thing of all—namely, give up His own Son to suffering and death—then it is certain that He will do the comparatively easy thing, namely, give us all things with Him.

He will give us all things that are good for us. All things that we really need in order to be conformed to the image of His Son Romans All things we need in order to attain everlasting joy. The suffering and death of Christ guarantee that God will give us all things that we need to do His will and to give Him glory and to attain everlasting joy. To bring us to God. What is the ultimate good in the Good News?

God Himself. Salvation is not good news if it only saves from hell and not for God. There is no sure evidence that we have a new heart just because we want to escape hell. The evidence we have been changed is that we want these things because they bring us to the enjoyment of God. This is the greatest thing Christ died for. We were made to experience full and lasting happiness from seeing and savoring the glory of God.

To give us eternal life. In our happiest times we do not want to die. The wish for death rises only when our suffering seems unbearable. What we really want in those times is not death, but relief. We would love for the good times to come again. We would like the pain to go away. We would like to have our loved one back from the grave. The longing of the human heart is to live and to be happy. God made us that way. We were made to live forever. And we will. Yet, the life of Jesus was directed towards one goal greater than any of those remarkable things He did: His destiny was to die in obedience to His God and Father.

The work of Jesus on the cross becomes the center of all history. Everything before it looked ahead to what God the Son would accomplish on the cross. Everything after it looks back to the work that had to happen. Here are a few thoughts on why Jesus had to die and die on the cross.

Even the way Jesus would die was prophesied hundreds of years before it happened Psalm , Zechariah Every animal sacrifice the priests of Israel offered was like a bank check that would be paid out at the cross. Man is born to trouble Job , and that trouble ends in death.

As children of Adam and Eve, we are born to die, and death has spread to all Romans
