Under these conditions it became inevitable for the government to take action against the RSS. Under the circumstances, no evidence could be found to prove that Godse was a continuing member of the RSS.
Nonetheless, Gopal Godse, brother of Nathuram who was also arrested as a co-conspirator and sentenced to imprisonment, said in an interview with Frontline magazine , 30 years after his release from prison, that Nathuram had never quit the RSS and had lied in the courts. The RSS Constitution was drafted after the ban was lifted in During , the RSS led an underground movement to restore democracy from the front and its role was recognised globally. This event was the first of its kind in the history of the RSS as it was considered to be a major outreach initiative of Sangh. The content of this address where Sarsanghchalak spoke for around two hours for consecutive three days is considered to be the guiding framework for the RSS in contemporary context.
